For there will be no silver or gold
just glitter upon my hands
ashes at my feet
Before the calm
The understanding
The acceptance
The rage
The fear
Courage
The moment you see you are enough
Is the exact moment you view our world differently
Through fire
I have found myself in ashes deep
Ventured out where angels play
Grinned at statues locked in sleep
Rain quenches thirsty skin
Eyes locked tight avoid the day
Captured a butterfly
Hid it away
Wings flutter
Pounding
Silent drums
Set her free when the moment comes
Through fire
I have found myself in ashes deep
Lay down where my angel will sleep
Statues heads bow in prayer
Rain to wash skin so scorched
Eyes shut tight avoid the day
Released the butterfly
Watched as she flew so far away
