A glass of red on a grey day

She was the strongest woman they knew
it was whispered on the air around her, she often caught the sounds

You cannot hold an ice cream cone and be unhappy
but here she was
broken
staring through the people in her life

Wanting to find where she fit
with whom she fit like the last piece of a puzzle
needed for its full view
safely locked into place by each connecting piece

Old recordings skipped within
too much
not enough

Ice cream leaving trails upon her hands of all the places
she had not seen, the risks she did not take

From the distance laughter began to fill the silence
mocking the strongest woman they never knew

Some who stand in the light, cast the darkest shadows

Words spoken are often empty
Choose your words as you do your friends
